MAXXIMUS Engineered Carpet Gripper
Tack strip has more plywood, more pins, more pre-nails per carton than any other brand. We use only premium plywood made to our specifications. We do not “buy” plywood; we have it “made”. We use only high strength carbon steel nails from non-Chinese manufacturers. Our products are designed from the floor up and so is our equipment. Our manufacturing machines are designed and built in-house — in our own machine shop. They are truly “one of a kind.”

Choose the right product for the job.
Think about the job first: is the job residential or commercial? Light, medium or heavy duty? Type of floor: wood, concrete, specialty? What is the carpet pile height? What is the face yarn weight? Now that the job is identified, choose the right product for the job. Four different widths of carpet gripper each balanced with the appropriate number of pins and pre-nails. Every product is available in three different pin lengths (short, medium, long) for all variations in carpet pile height. So, whether you call it strip, tack strip or even tackless strip, our engineered carpet gripper is the only brand of carpet gripper that makes all these variations available.

These nailed carpet grippers or carpet tack strips can be nailed stapled or glued(with a strong wood glue) onto your tufting frame and are an ideal tool to stretch your cloth. It allows you to re-stretch the cloth during the tufting process so you always have a tightly stretched working area for consistent tufting.

The wooden strips contain tiny nails every few centimeters that punch through your cloth, keeping it in place without tearing it. To work nicely you have to make sure you have high quality and easy to stretch cloth that will work smoothly with our carpet grippers. The grippers are traditionally used to keep carpets in place but are no longer widely used in the industry and therefore it becomes rare to be found in regular shops.

You will receive this rare product in a total of 1.5meters (5x30cm) per ordered unit, the grippers are cut into smaller pieces for shipping purposes. This does not interfere with their functioning, you can just place them next to eachother on your frame!

Stone polymer composite (SPC) flooring is the most durable luxury vinyl option on the market. Its ultra-sturdy core makes it a popular choice for homeowners looking to improve their flooring’s durability.

If you’re trying to decide whether you should add SPC flooring or another type of vinyl to your home, you’ve come to the right place. Learn about the similarities and differences between SPC and traditional luxury vinyl in this guide.

SPC Flooring vs. Luxury Vinyl: How Do They Compare?
Luxury vinyl is a versatile, durable flooring made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins and stabilizers. It comes in various shapes, colors and textures. It’s designed to mimic natural materials like wood and stone, so it’s a great choice if you’re seeking a more affordable alternative to solid hardwood. Some common types of luxury vinyl flooring include:

Luxury vinyl plank: Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is designed to recreate authentic hardwood flooring planks.
Luxury vinyl tile: Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) is used to replicate tile flooring. It comes in many stone and wood textures and finishes.
SPC is a type of LVT flooring made from plasticizers, PVC and powdered limestone for extra durability and water resistance. Traditional LVT floors have PVC cores for flexibility, but SPC flooring has a stone-plastic composite core, giving it more rigidity and strength. In other words, all SPC floors are luxury vinyl, but not all luxury vinyl floors are SPC.

Now, let’s explore some different qualities to further compare and contrast SPC and standard luxury vinyl.

1. Aesthetic
   While digital imaging has improved across all vinyl flooring types, each plank will vary in look and feel. SPC flooring tends to have a more realistic look, natural texture and denser feel. Traditional vinyl flooring can also achieve a genuine hardwood or tile appearance, but because SPC is a more recent innovation, it’s a little more advanced in construction, appearance and texture.

2. Cost
   SPC is more affordable than the materials it’s designed to mimic, like solid hardwood and tiles. However, it’s generally more expensive than standard LVT. The average cost of standard LVP and LVT flooring is $1-$6 per square foot, while SPC is $3.50-$7 per square foot. Of course, this can vary by the supplier and brand.

The good news is both traditional luxury vinyl and SPC are quick and simple to install, which reduces labor costs significantly. Vinyl planks are designed to fit and lock together without requiring nails, glue, solvents or other chemicals. While this click-style method is slightly less secure than hardwood and tile installation, it’s far less time-consuming.

3. Life Span
   When properly installed and maintained, most luxury vinyl flooring types will typically last 20 years or more. However, SPC has the potential to outlast traditional LVT due to its more rigid core. Just be sure to clean and care for your flooring regularly according to the manufacturer’s instructions. If you notice any major dents or scratches over time, a plank replacement is a simple solution.

4. Durability
   Due to its stone polymer core, SPC flooring tends to be more resilient, durable and dent-resistant than traditional vinyl. Because PVC-core luxury vinyl is softer and more pliable, it’s often more susceptible to wear and tear. Heavy furniture can dent this material more easily.

However, both SPC and traditional LVT are completely water-resistant. This means they can withstand spills, humidity, changing seasons and temperature shifts without losing shape or quality.

5. Maintenance
   Both SPC and traditional LVT flooring are simple to clean and maintain due to their water-resistant, nonporous surfaces. Try to sweep or vacuum your floors regularly and deep clean them with a mop when necessary. This is especially important since dust and dirt buildup can cause premature scratching.

If your vacuum has a beater bar, make sure you turn it off beforehand — its rough bristles can scrape and scuff your flooring. Additionally, remember to check your floor’s warranty to ensure you’re using the proper cleaning products and methods.

6. Resale Value
   Because vinyl flooring merely imitates natural wood and stone materials, neither standard LVT nor SPC can compete with hardwood in terms of resale value. However, you should note that replacing any old, worn flooring with a new option — whether it be SPC flooring or an alternative — allows you to see a return on your investment.

7. Comfort
   Due to its sturdier stone construction, SPC flooring is inevitably going to provide less joint and underfoot comfort than traditional LVT flooring. While neither is nearly as soft and plush as carpet, traditional LVT’s softer core makes it far more comfortable to stand on than SPC.

Additionally, SPC’s stone composite core doesn’t hold much heat, so you’ll likely have some chilly floors when it’s cold out. We recommend adding an area rug on top of your floor for enhanced softness and comfort.

8. Rooms
   SPC flooring and traditional LVT have similar waterproof features, so naturally, they can accommodate many of the same spaces. These include humid and moisture-prone areas, such as:

Laundry rooms
Mudrooms
Basements
Both are durable options that can withstand regular foot traffic, so you can also install these flooring types in the following rooms:

Knowing which rooms to avoid is as important as knowing the best rooms for SPC and traditional vinyl flooring installation. We don’t recommend installing SPC flooring or traditional LVT in rooms with abundant windows and natural light, like sunrooms, as sunlight can cause these materials to fade over time.

What is Pure SPC Flooring?

Republic Floor’s Stone Plastic Composite (Pure SPC) flooring is made by combining a robust plastic composite with real stone additives to forge the strongest possible core and the best waterproof flooring material. To create our stunning high-definition designs, we then add a top layer of high-quality vinyl that can tolerate the most advanced embossing and etching techniques. A third layer of super-durable high quality balancing paper is added underneath, to ensure moisture protection from below. This three-layer construction ensures that our SPC flooring materials are impervious to moisture.

Our unique Pure SPC Flooring collection has a thick vinyl top layer that allows us to add attractive and realistic textured finishing effects, using state-of-the-art printing and embossing techniques. We offer a diverse and exciting choice of designs that we are continually updating. The planks have an additional layer of padding attached, which is our proprietary Bio-GuardTM anti-bacterial underlayment, for extra reassurance and noise reduction.

You might be wondering how rigid core vinyl can be 100% waterproof. I can clear that up for you! It all comes down to a layered design that maximizes durability and moisture resistance.

Rigid Core Luxury Vinyl Flooring

SPC flooring is typically comprised of 4 layers*

Wear layer: Just like with traditional vinyl, the wear layer is what protects your flooring from scratches and imperfections. The thicker the wear layer, the better protection.
Printed vinyl layer: This is where you get your gorgeous photo imagery that makes the vinyl look (nearly) identical to natural materials like stone and wood. This flooring offers some of the highest quality images on the market.
SPC core: This is the most important part! SPC flooring contains a solid, waterproof core. It won’t ripple, swell or peel. This core is ultra-dense and very durable.
Backing layer: The solid foundation of your tile.

What Does SPC Mean?
SPC stands for stone-plastic composite or stone-polymer composite. Both of these terms are used interchangeably. SPC is also referred to as rigid core flooring. That’s because the mixture of limestone powder and stabilizers in the core is ultra-dense and incredibly rigid. This core makes SPC vinyl more stable in a larger temperature range: no expansion and contraction here!

Planks
Planks work best for wood-look flooring. They’re the same size as real wood flooring planks, which adds another touch of realism to your floor. Some high-end rigid core vinyl planks even come with embossed wood grain patterns to give them a convincing feel.

Common plank sizes range from 5” to 9” in width. Our most popular sizes are 5” and 7” wide. Larger, wider planks can make even small spaces feel roomy.

Attached Underlayment: Usually made of cork or foam, an attached underlayment saves you the trouble of purchasing your own. The underlayment softens your step, absorbs echoey sounds, and helps to even out slightly imperfect subfloors.

Beveled Edging: This features creates a groove between each plank and tile by softening the edges at the surface of the floor. When your flooring is beveled at the edges, each tile and plank has definition. This effect creates a more realistic natural look for your flooring.
